As a reflection on the growing trade with China, “UK-Russia-CIS Consulting and Dispute Resolution” is delighted to announce the launch of its Chinese capabilities through co-operation with Dr Yvonne Percival.

Dr. Percival qualified as a solicitor in 1995 and completed her PhD in international investment law at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) in 2014. Having graduated in Modern Mandarin from Westminster University, and law from City University, she was awarded the British Council Scholarship (now known as the British Chevening Scholarship) to undertake postgraduate studies at Peking University.

Dr. Percival worked, including as a partner, in major City of London law firms, specialising in international trade and investment, and international commercial and investment arbitration.  Clients comprised multinational corporations, as well as medium companies, with focus on Chinese corporations’ overseas commercial activities.  She advised on matters such as cross-border joint ventures, shareholders agreements, trade and technology transfer agreements, international commercial and shipping arbitration, bilateral investment treaties and investor-state arbitration.

She also consulted foreign investors wishing to enter the Chinese market and has assisted Chinese companies in identifying and pursuing investment opportunities overseas in areas such as energy, renewable energy and mining acquisitions. She is on the panel of arbitrators of the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission.

Having studied, worked and lived in China, Dr. Percival is fluent in Mandarin, and has deep understanding of Chinese commercial culture and corporate regulatory framework, as well as working knowledge of Chinese commercial law. She lectures extensively about China in both commercial and academic forums. Together with Wu Zhenguo of MOFCOM, she co-wrote the chapter on Chinese competition law in ‘Competition Law and Practice: A Review of Major Jurisdictions’ published by Cameron May. She lectures to LLM students on multinational corporations and the law, including international investment law.

Dr Percival and Mrs Sjostrand are delighted to offer assistance to both Chinese clients seeking to establish and develop business in the UK and/or the CIS and, vice versa, Western and the CIS clients seeking to establish links to and relations with Chinese businesses.
